Nine Signs He Actually Loves You (And Three That Mean Nothing)
Grand gestures are cheap. These are the quiet, boring, repeatable behaviours that separate real love from a good performance.

Everyone wants a shortcut. Does he love me, yes or no. The honest answer is that love is not a feeling you can detect in a single moment, it is a pattern you can observe over weeks.
Here is what that pattern actually looks like.
1. He is consistent when nothing is happening
Anyone can be attentive during the exciting part. The signal is what happens on an ordinary Tuesday. Does he still text, still ask how the meeting went, still remember the thing you were nervous about?
2. He repairs after conflict
Every couple argues. The difference between strong and fragile relationships is not the number of arguments, it is what happens in the hour afterwards. People who love you come back. They soften, they apologise for the part that was theirs, and they do not make you chase them.
3. He makes you part of his logistics
Love shows up in calendars. Being included in plans two months out, being told about his sister's wedding before the invitations go out, being factored into how he thinks about the year, all of that is a stronger signal than a paragraph of romantic text.
4. He is curious about your inner life
Not just your day, your thinking. He asks follow up questions. He remembers the answer next month.
5. He protects your reputation when you are not there
How he talks about you to friends, family and colleagues is the version of you he actually holds.
6. He changes behaviour when it matters
You said something hurt. Two weeks later, he had not done it again. That is the whole test. Apologies are words, changed behaviour is evidence.
7. He is comfortable being unimpressive around you
Real intimacy includes boredom, illness, bad moods and being wrong. Someone who only shows you the polished version is managing an image, not building a relationship.
8. He plans for your growth, not just his
He knows what you are working towards and he adjusts to make room for it.
9. He tolerates your no
This is the quiet one that matters most. When you decline something, does the temperature in the room stay the same? Love does not punish boundaries.
Three signs that predict almost nothing
Jealousy. Often sold as proof of love, it is usually a signal about his own anxiety, not about your value.
Expensive gifts. Money is the cheapest currency for someone who has it. Attention is the expensive one.
Saying it fast. Speed of declaration correlates with nothing. Some people say it in three weeks and mean it. Some say it in three weeks because they say it to everyone.
What to do with this
Pick three of the nine above and honestly rate the last month, not the best week you ever had. If you want a structured version of that exercise, our Does He Love Me calculator walks you through twenty behavioural questions and gives you a score with a written read.
